Tasmanian Wilderness  Walking Experiences

The Woodbridge is ideally placed for guests wanting Tasmanian wilderness walking experiences.

Travellers who love bushwalking, but want a bit of luxury, often stay at The Woodbridge. We are so close to the wilderness, Mt Field predominantly, but so many others are also easily accessible.

Mt field is part of enormous Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. It includes Cradle Mountain, Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers, Walls of Jerusalem, and Southwest National Parks.

All are accessible on day trips from The Woodbridge We have had guests stay for a week and do day trips to them all … and additionally to Maria Island.

Mt Field is a guest favourite. It offers multiple walks through luscious temperate rainforest to the spectacular Russell and Horseshoe falls. Drive a little further up the mountain to enjoy the alpine landscape of lake Dobson glacial lake.

Nearby is the Styx Tall Trees Reserve featuring 7 of the world’s tallest flowering trees. The tallest of these ancient giant hardwoods is 79m and the abundance of moss-covered branches on ground is enchanting.

The reserve’s proximity to Mount Field National Park make it an ideal side trip.
